Alexis Margarall is the youngest child of a family of scholars and crafters that was well known for their dedication to Vynora. Once it was a rich lineage of merchants but the eccentricity and thirst for knowledge of Alexis's great grandparents turned the once opulent halls of their houses into great libraries. While the Margarall's were well known and respected, affording them a lot of high paying jobs, they would spend it all in the pursuit of their projects and knowledge.
Alexis always had the hearth of an explorer and thought that the pursuit of knowledge would be best conducted out in the world. But at the insistence of his family he had to choose to be either a scholar or a crafter. He chose to be a weaponsmith, believing that weapons would be valuable tools that would serve him well in his explorations.
Alexis was often known around his clients as a forgetful person, caring only about making weapons for himself. More than once, when a rich client provided ample resources for a fancy weapon, he took his products out for a test run. Although such eccentricities were to be expected when dealing with a Margarall.
Alexis was an optimist full of wanderlust but he was often criticized by his peers for not having any real motivation other than seeing new things.
Stephen Margarall, Alexis's older brother and prime candidate for the head of the family. Studious yet sociable and well travelled. He was gifted at finding the practical applications to all of his theoretical knowledge, a talent that he always used to prompt his brother into studying and appreciating the value of books. Alexis though that Stephen was both everything he wanted to become and everything he couldn't ever be, yet he did not resent him. His love and respect for his brother was great and he wished to one day be capable of supporting him...
... Stephen Margarall, for all of his talents and accomplishments, was afforded a position as a Vynora priest in the Arcanum Tower shortly before it had turned into a jail...
After the murder of his brother, Alexis swore revenge against the forces of darkness. He decided that he would no longer use his weaponsmithing only for himself, and would help arm his fellow fighters against Azohra. And thus, he moved to Ardmagh, where he believes he can pursue his trade while fending off the forces of darkness.
While his travel is fueled by sadness and revenge, Alexis looks at the forgotten land of Ardmagh and can't help but feel a renewed sense of wanderlust. He now looks at life with both optimism and determination.
